Les Nail Smiths: August 2014 - Birthstone

Welcome to the first post of Les Nail Smiths! As I have previously stated, I have teamed up with Millie from The Nail Smith to bring monthly nail art posts to you guys! Les Nail Smiths will be posted every first Saturday of the month. We decided on "Birthstone" for our August prompt because we were born both this month! :D

I wanted to incorporate the color of my birthstone (peridot) and features of my astrological sign (Leo, whose sign ruler is the sun and zodiac element is fire) into this look. I used Sinful Colors Innocent as my base, followed by a layer of Essie Shine of the Times. After the layers were dried, I adhered a pale spring green rhinestone to my middle finger. To make it look like a radiating sun, I surrounded the rhinestone and made sun rays with gold microbeads. Innocent was the closest color I had to my birthstone and the flakies from Shine of the Times created a fiery appearance. I had a lot of fun creating this look, and I can't wait for next month's Les Nail Smiths! :D

Please don't forget to check out Millie's take on August's prompt!

Thanks for looking! See you on the other side of the day!

  4. I love both colors and own both, it never occurred to me to group them and it's a shame because they look so pretty together!
