Color Club Cherubic

Self-purchased

Color Club Cherubic is a beautiful nude with very strong linear holo. I believe I used 2 coats. The formula was amazing - so easy to apply and very opaque. No top coat because it was a holo. As you can probably tell, I love this little one. I definitely recommend it!

ABC Challenge: E - Color Club Editorial

Self-purchased

Color Club Editorial is a multichrome that flashes gold, bronze, and light green. It doesn't flash blue, although you can see it in the bottle. I used 3 coats. The formula is think and runny so it's prone to flooding the nail. It also shows some brushstrokes and imperfections when it dries. I suggest applying Editorial carefully and finish off with a sponged coat and top coat to get a smooth finish. It dried quickly. No top coat.

Color Club In the Limelight + OPI Polka.com

Self-purchased

Color Club In the Limelight is a wonderful dark periwinkle creme, though the first coat was unexpectedly sheer. I used 2 coats. The formula was a bit thin, but easily built up and applied well. It dried very shiny so I didn't use top coat.

OPI Polka.com has a mixture of magenta, blurple, and teal glitter in a clear base. It's super pretty! Yet another polish I don't know why I haven't worn until now... :( I dabbed/brushed on 1 coat. The formula was subpar for OPI standards. The base is thin and a bit runny, which makes for a bad glitter base. As mentioned, I had to use a mixture of dabbing and brushing to apply Polka.com. However, I had little trouble getting out the hex glitter. :) It dried shiny and mostly smooth so I didn't use top coat.

Color Club Wicker Park

Self-purchased

Color Club Wicker Park is a pink-toned lavender creme. It is bright, but not so much so that I would call it a neon. Surprisingly, I am in love with this color! I generally don't like pink-toned purples so I have very few of them. I used 2 coats. The formula was creamy and easy to control. It had just the right viscosity for easy application. It dried shiny. No top coat.

Color Club Holiday Splendor + Essie First Timer

Self-purchased

Color Club Holiday Splendor (index and middle fingers) has holographic silver glitter in a vibrant green jelly base that has hints of blue to it. I used 3 coats because I wanted depth. It could have definitely been a 2-coater though (albeit with some visible nail line). The formula was amazing! It was easy to apply and control, extremely pigmented, and packed with glitter. I adore Holiday Splendor! It dried gritty so I applied top coat.

Essie First Timer (ring and pinky fingers) is a vivid peppermint green creme. I used 3 coats. The formula was creamy, though a little thin. Nevertheless, it was easy to control. It dried shiny, but I still applied top coat.

Color Club East Austin

Self-purchased

Color Club East Austin is a somewhat stark, orangey peach neon creme with a touch of pink to it. I used 4 coats because, at 3, there were still some patches. The formula was a wee bit thick, but I still had no trouble applying it. I would say the formula was really good for a neon. It dried shiny, surprisingly, but I still used top coat.

Color Club Harp on It

Color Club Harp on It is a strong silver linear holo. I used 4 thin coats instead of 3 thicker ones to prevent chipping. I actually wore this for around a week and had no chips! I only had growth, which I filed before I took pictures. The formula was alright, definitely not amazing like the other Color Club holos I have. Harp on It slightly thickened throughout its application, but it was still manageable to apply. Also unlike the other Color Club holos, this one didn't level very well and dried slowly; you can see bed sheet marks in some of the photos. Since it's a holo, I didn't use base or top coat.

Color Club Poptastic Collection

Self-purchased

I got this collection a loooong time ago. These were actually my first Color Clubs! I got lucky and spotted them at Ross. I quickly snatched them up lest someone else was spying them! This post, along with future spam and collection posts, will be short because I have so many I still need to swatch. Enjoy! :)

The formula on all of these Color Clubs were more or less the same. There will be more details under each swatch. Poptastic, Warhol, and Wham! Pow! were the only true neons. Twiggie, Chelsea Girl, and Pucci-licious were just bright cremes, possibly due to the addition of neon pigment. Almost Famous, the only one that took 4 coats to become opaque and did not have any neon pigment, was a standard creme. Except for Almost Famous, they all dried somewhat matte as they still had a nice gloss to them. All of them did not level well, but that problem can probably be corrected with a good top coat. I did not use top coat for these swatches, however.

Poptastic

Neon bubblegum pink and is actually lighter than shown. 3 coats. Dried quickly and slightly matte.

Warhol

Reddish pink neon that pulled more red on me. 3 coats. Dried quickly and slightly matte.

Wham! Pow!

Super neon orange! Much more radioactive than traffic cone orange. I actually really liked this one; I thought I wouldn't because it was so retina-searing! 3 coats. Dried quickly and slightly matte.

Almost Famous

Warm, medium yellow creme. For some reason, this one always reminds me of egg yolk! 4 coats. This one had lots of dragging and, since it was a creme, the formula was thicker than the others. I honestly don't expect much from yellows because they are notorious for their formula and pigmentation problems. However, Almost Famous is still my go-to yellow because it's one of the most opaque yellow cremes I have.

Twiggie

Bright green creme with lots of white in its base. 3 coats in order to cover some patches. You can get away with 2 if you do thicker coats though. Dried quickly and slightly matte.

Chelsea Girl

A bright blue jelly. 3 coats, but you can still see my nail line. I don't mind seeing that so I left it at 3 coats. If you want it to be opaque, then you would probably need 4 or 5 coats. Dried quickly and slightly matte. I have a feeling Chelsea Girl might be good for jelly sandwiches... ;)

Pucci-licious

A somewhat bright, medium purple. 3 coats. Dried quickly and slightly matte.

What do you guys think? Please let me know! :)

See you guys on the other side of the day!

Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, Color Club Platinum Record + Jelly Sandwich

Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby

Ruby Ruby is a red crelly (jelly-creme hybrid) that is opaque in 2 coats. True to the crelly finish, it applied BEAUTIFULLY and dried extremely shiny. Though the first coat showed the nail line (which jellies tend to do), the second coat completely covered it up just like a creme. Dry time was good as well. Unfortunately, my camera did not capture Ruby Ruby well. It is not as virbrant/orange in real life; it is a true, classic red. Ruby Ruby was so magnificent that it made me wonder what I really had against reds (...it's actually because I think of "sexy" when I think of red polishes and, thus, tend to stay away from them). Bottom line: I highly recommend this polish!

Note: I generally don't fair well with Sinful Colors. They're either hits or misses. Some other Sinful Colors polishes that I own have really bad formula. But this one is just awesome. I'm starstruck.

Color Club Platinum Record

Platinum Record consists of large, medium, and fine hexagonal glitter in a clear base. Here, it is shown with 1 coat over two coats of Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby, which is swatched above. I thought I was going to have a terrible time applying Platinum Record because of the reviews I've read. However, it was pretty easy to apply! It went on with minimal effort; no dabbing and placing of glitters necessary. (I can't wait to try the other glitters from the Color Club Backstage Pass Collection now!) Dry time was also good.

(Sorry for the blurry picture. My camera was running out of battery. :( )

Jelly Sandwich with Sinful Colors Ruby Ruby and Color Club Platinum Record

I decided to just go for it and try my first jelly sandwich! I was afraid that Ruby Ruby might be too opaque, but it was actually just right! I used 2 coats of Ruby Ruby for the base color, 1 coat of  Platinum Record, and then 1 coat of Ruby Ruby over Platinum Record. Not much else to say; just stare at it's beauty! Mmmhmm.

(This picture is more color accurate in showing Ruby Ruby, though I do think it's a teensy bit redder in real life.)

Have you guys ever tried a jelly sandwich before? How did it turn out?

See you guys on the other side of the day!

Heads Up! & Color Club Artsy Crafty

I'm sorry for not posting every week as I had said! School is now back in full swing and I feel as though I may fall off it! Bio midterm next Friday (1 of the 3 bio midterms given out) and an essay due a few days after. But I also have things like labs, chemistry lecture, and GE to worry about too. I have a different bio professor this semester and I'm freaking out about how his tests will be (although he is considered "the easiest one" and he, himself, told me his tests were just multiple choice and free responses... Ahhh! Paranoid parrot right here!) Anyways, please forgive me if I can't post weekly (even one post a week seems too hard). I'm also working on my light box; I just need some tracing paper and I'll be done!

Fortunately, I have something in store for you guys in the next several weeks! :D I hope you guys will enjoy it as much as I do!

Now here's my NOTW...

Color Club Artsy Crafty

Color Club Artsy Crafty is a dark, dusty green creme. I love it! In some lights, it has the tendency to either look black or a very dusty almost-black green. I've gotten many compliments from my friends. Before putting on top coat, Artsy Crafty was already extremely shiny and reflective. So much so, that I could see myself on my nails. The polish flowed smoothly on the nail and the brush was thin and easy to control. I needed 2 thick-ish coats; 3 thin coats would have been better, but I was too impatient (a bad trait of mine :( ). I've come to expect great quality from Color Club and buy collections whenever I find them at Ross. Plus, a whole collection is only $7.99 there!

This manicure is already a day old so there is a little tip wear. The chips are most likely from the base coat (1 coat Color Club Vitabase, 1 coat Color Club Clear) and the top coat (1 coat Color Club Clear). As evidenced, the polishes aren't actual base and top coats at all. I just don't want to bother with buying them right now (too stressed and poor).

Sorry for the poor picture quality! As I mentioned, I'm still making my light box so I have to resort to using my mac webcam. The color, though, is actually pretty accurate, but the polish is actually more green when viewed in sunlight. Look how shiny it is!

See you guys on the other side of the day!
